Great ideas for easy interior design

We all love our homes spending billions on them each year but with the global downturn now are a time when we need to make the most of every penny we spend. It is therefore important to become creative and efficient with what we do. Sometimes however it doesn’t cost a fortune to make a real different to a room and it doesn’t have to take long either.

Throughout the home each room has its own function and therefore needs to be designed accordingly. The bedroom for example is a place for rest and sleep so the room will need to be painted in a darker colour. It is important though to ensure that any colour matches the furniture. It can also be a good idea to get sliding door wardrobes with mirror fronted doors as these are large and can make the room appear so much larger. These aren’t cheap wardrobes but are well worth it. They can also store all of your clothes using the hanging rail and drawer sections. Perfect!

The dining room is a room that can also prove to be multifunctional. Some will not only include the traditional dining room but it can also double up as a study. For that reason a dining table that can be folded down can be useful in creating more space for a computer desk. Shelves can also prove to be a real space saver. It is better to decorate them with a more neutral colour and plenty of light if people will be studying or working on a computer. For this wall lights may be necessary as well as a main light over the dinner table.

The living room is one of the best places to really put your interior design skills to the test. This is the room where the majority of a family’s time is spent with the television being the centre of most family’s lives. It is there for of primary importance that the furniture is laid out in a way to allow each seat to face the television although it is also important to make sure everyone can see everyone else for those TV off moments.

The living room will most likely be filled with furniture to make sure it is functional allowing for you to keep the room tidy and clutter free. As far as decorating goes sometimes the little things have the most impact. Painting the walls is simple and cheap but can create a clear fresh look. You can then add coloured stencils of a freeze to add a touch of quality and class. A freshly painted ceiling is also important. Remember that the curtains and lampshades need to match the overall look as does the carpet. Similar colours will look good but make sure everything isn’t exactly the same as this will ruin the look.

The key with interior design in the current economic climate is to keep it simple as there are so many simple ideas that cost next to nothing. Painting is the perfect example. If you keep it cheap and simple it will not only be easy but will give you results that you will be proud of. It doesn’t have to cost the earth to make a real difference.
